Guitar made of special steel
as a symbol of fine music

The attractive, 3.60-metre high and 1.20-metre wide instrument has been decorating
Heinsberg’s Town-Hall square since yesterday. The guitar is a gift from the firm of Krieg on
the occasion of the town’s 750th anniversary, and especially for the first international Guitar
Festival.

An attractive, 3.60-metre high and 1.20-metre wide guitar has been decorating the scene on Heinsberg’s Town-Hall square since yesterday. It’s drawing attention to the first international Guitar Festival of the municipal Youth Music School in Heinsberg, which begins on Sunday. The atmospheric symbol for the exceptional music event was designed and produced by the employees of Krieg Elektronik-Gehäusebau from Heinsberg-Dremmen.
„Our employees were really enthusiastic about this unusual order, which symbolizes that Heinsberg plays the music and sets the tone”, said Mathias Krieg, the owner of the company. “Fine music and fine steel go together splendidly”, said
Theo Krings, head of the Youth Music School, who had the idea for this project together with Walter Flesch, a promoter of many years’ standing of the Youth Music School.
The company of Krieg regards this evidence of outstanding craftsmanship as a gift on the 750 th anniversary of the Town of Heinsberg – and also for the Guitar Festival. The company’s employees needed only three weeks from the first planning through construction right down to putting up the “instrument” that weighs around 150 kilos. The construction alone already took up about 30 working hours. In the end, a work of art from creative thoughts was created with the most modern laser technology and raw metal.
The Mayor of Heinsberg, Josef Offergeld, thanked the manager, Mathias Krieg, for the elegant
contribution with public appeal towards the 750 th anniversary of the Town of Heinsberg. In addition to this, Mr Offergeld emphasized the attachment of the Town of Heinsberg to the company which is rich in tradition.
Both Theo Krings, head of the Youth Music School, and Jakob Gerads, chairman and at the same time treasurer of the district town, also expressed great pleasure and words of thanks. They’re all looking forward to the event with nervous anticipation. The event starts on Tuesday, 31 May at 8.00 p.m. in the municipal hall with the Italian performer, Carlo Marchione.
The special-steel guitar can now be admired in front of the Town Hall until the end of the festival. However, also afterwards, it is to be put in an honourable place. Where this is to be is not yet sure, though.    (her)/(athe)
